Air Hockey of Fury

Based on the title of the article, one would think that this is a fictional Air Hockey write up or story. But in fact, this connotes that Air Hockey is not just your typical arcade or household game. There is so much more in this, heck, it might be even considered as a sport to some. The game is played with smooth surfaced tables with holes on both ends that serves as goals. Two players will compete using their Mallets to hit the puck across the other side of the table. This is called air hockey since the holes produces an air pressure to cushion the puck, decrease friction and increase speed. Interesting fact isn’t it?
The game is commonly known for recreational use. Some have this game on their drinking parties. People also, play the game with their kids. It is a game for all ages. One may think that this game is boring but actually it gets competitive in the long run. In fact and recreationally this is a low effort fun game and a set of ten is short.
Did you know that the game is actually made by Engineers using a frictionless space? Also, the puck is made out of Lexan Polycarbonate that is usually used in sports helmets. Imagine how hard it is to be thrown at with a puck. Usually people would grip the mallet outright with a firm grip. But Air Hockey is more than that, there is a correct hand position for offense and defense. Also there are rules applied like not holding or touching the puck without the mallet. One cannot hit the puck outside the center line, otherwise it would be considered as a foul. Sometimes, there red lines in the table and these should not be crossed by the mallet.
As one can notice, this Air Hockey is not just a casual sport, there are numerous leagues for the game and mostly the Americans have remained supreme in the international contest of Air Hockey. But come thinking about it, Air Hockey is not as popular as other sports but this more fun than the usual games.
